since 2005.
South Dakota Drift — SDDRIFT, as we generally refer to ourselves — has been holding events in Sturgis, SD since 2011. Before that, we could be found setting up anywhere that would allow us.
Our story
Parking lots to the Thunderdome.
It started with JDM Option videos, a few friends, and late nights in parking lots and on mountain roads — back when nobody around here knew what drifting even was. In 2005 Kris Cudmore and a few others created SD DRIFT to grow the sport.
Since 2011 we've called the "Thunderdome" at the Kickstart Travel Plaza in Sturgis, SD our home. Our events are all grassroots and we aim to provide a fun environment to shred and party with your friends. Many of our events are "practice" in nature and are non-competitive.
Timeline

No pro-series pretense. Real cars, real budgets, real seat time. If it's RWD and passes tech, it belongs here.
Practice first
Most of our events are practice days, not competitions. Come to learn, link the course, and get better with every lap.
Shred with friends
The point is a fun environment to shred and party with your friends. Bring your crew. Make new ones.
